Being the awesome parent you are, it can be tempting (and exciting) to go all-out for your kiddo's big birthday. You want it to be charming and whimsical...like a perfect wonderland! With so many talented artisans and crafters out there, and so little time, you could spend a fortune. But, if you plan ahead, with your creativity you'll find you can create a personal, amazing event that is perfect for your family and your wallet.
Tip #5) Plan Ahead!
Make sure you give yourself lots of time to look for sales and deals on decor items such as balloons, streamers, paper plates, ect. Your local dollar store will have many of these items, though you may have to check back often to find items that compliment the theme of your party. Sourcing decorations online can save you a ton but make sure you leave lots of time for shipping. Or, print them yourself! - Costs paper and ink.
Tip #4) Don't fuss over the menu!
Kids are likely to be happy with a few fun finger-foods; besides, they'll be too busy playing to stop and eat. If your party includes adults, don't feel bad asking friends and family to bring a dish, most people don't mind. Set a theme and help your guests by suggesting what they can bring. For example, many toddler's birthdays happen earlier in the day so you may ask your guests to bring a brunch item like mini-muffins, or fruit.
Tip #3) Make decoration yourself!
Pinterest is full of fun, creative ideas for kid's party decor. Don't go crazy though...we're not all Martha Stewart! Check out these easy, inexpensive, decor ideas.

Tip #2) Plan age appropriate fun!
Kids just want to play and have fun. Activities don't have to cost a thing! Plan simple games like freeze tag or dodge ball. Or, prepare crafts using household items (toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, etc.). Check out these super simple Doodle Cubes.
Tip #1) Scope out an affordable venue!
The venue you choose can make or break your party, and your budget! Plan early to ensure your date is available. Choose a venue that will work with you by setting up tables or allowing you to bring in your own food.
